The wasteland is better

01What it does

Two hundred years of silence, finally interrupted

Fallout MP keeps the Commonwealth intact and puts other people in it. Here is what that means in practice.

A vault dweller and Dogmeat on a ruined highway01 / Explore together

One shared Commonwealth

Weather, time of day, radstorms and every wandering raider are the same for everyone on the server. Walk into Concord together and you walk into the same fight, not two copies of it.

A settlement built from salvaged timber and metal02 / Build together

Settlements that persist

Workshop mode is shared and saved. Walls, generators, turrets and the wiring between them survive the session, so a settlement is worth defending and worth raiding.

The Boston skyline beyond the wasteland03 / Make it yours

Run your own server

A dedicated binary for Windows and Linux, configured by one JSON file, listed in the in-game browser when you want it and private when you do not.

Explore the other multiplayer systems COMBAT / GEAR / ECONOMY / SCRIPTING

Combat that resolves once

Damage, limb crippling and death are settled server-side, so a kill counts the same for everyone. V.A.T.S. still slows time for you alone - the wasteland keeps moving for everybody else.

Power armour is a real object

Frames, plating and fusion cores exist in the world rather than in your menu. Leave a T-60 unattended at the edge of a firefight and somebody else can climb into it.

Your build reads the same to everyone

S.P.E.C.I.A.L., perks, weapon mods and legendary effects replicate, so the scoped .50 you put together looks and behaves the same in someone else’s hands as in yours.

Companions the server owns

Dogmeat, Codsworth and every vendor run as server-side NPCs instead of one player’s local copy. They can follow a squad, hold a stash, or be scripted into something the base game never had.

An economy in caps

Containers, stashes, vendor inventories and player-to-player trade all go through the server, which means scarcity is real and a market can actually form around it.

Scriptable end to end

Game modes, rules, economies and whole questlines are server-side resources in TypeScript or JavaScript. The base game is the engine; what runs on top is yours.

The Sole Survivor and Dogmeat walking a cracked road out of Sanctuary, the Red Rocket station ahead

Two hundred years later

The road out of Sanctuary is wide enough for everyone

Fallout 4 shipped a Commonwealth built for one survivor. Fallout MP hands the same road to your whole group and lets the wasteland sort out the rest.

02Scripting

If you can script it, the server can run it

Resources are plain TypeScript or JavaScript, loaded by the server and hot-reloaded while players stay connected. The API below is the one the mod itself is built on.

A command, in twenty lines

Drop a folder in resources/, export a server entry point, and the server loads it. Greet players as they come out of the vault and hand them a starter kit on request.

serverresources/welcome/server/main.ts
import { Chat, Events, Inventory } from '@falloutmp/server'

Events.on('playerSpawned', (player) => {
    Chat.send(player, `Welcome to the Commonwealth, ${player.name}. Try /kit.`)
})

Events.on('playerCommand', (player, command) => {
    if (command !== 'kit') return

    if (player.state.get('kitTaken')) {
        Chat.send(player, 'You have already taken a kit.')
        return
    }

    Inventory.give(player, [
        { item: 'stimpak', count: 3 },
        { item: '10mm_pistol', mods: ['short_barrel', 'reflex_sight'] },
        { item: 'ammo_10mm', count: 48 },
    ])

    player.state.set('kitTaken', true)
})
